Writing and Research
Research, writing and talks:
Research forms a regular part of my life; I write for The Brook Street Band about seventeenth and eighteenth-century music including concert programme notes and CD booklets. I also write and present pre-concert talks.
I write and present the love:Handel podcast, an ad hoc series usually related to aspects of Handel’s life and music.
Pleeth research
Having largely completed the first two chapters of a biographical study on the life of cellist William Pleeth, I am continuing this work, building a full archive of all Pleeth’s concert performances from the early 1930s onwards. I maintain the Pleeth family archive, and always welcome new additions to it, should you have any printed matter (concert programmes, posters, reviews) or copies of archive recordings to contribute.
Freelance writing work
I enjoy exploring musical periods outside the baroque and am often commissioned to write progamme notes for soloists and Festivals on a wide-ranging selection of repertoire.
